The plan for 2025–2026 provides help to more than 500 thousand weak people. Having been restored, the injured farmer will contribute to ensure the country’s food security.
The UN Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO) begins with the implementation of a two-year extra-care plan and early recovery (ERP) for 2025-2026 to support more than half a million residents of rural territories affected by the war. The total budget of the program is $ 150 million. This was reported by the FAO press service on Tuesday, May 6.
The plan aims to restore agricultural production, reducing human assistance and boosting long -term stability of the Ukraine agricultural sector, especially in front regions.
It has been noted that the total losses of the Ukraine agricultural sector are estimated to be about $ 84 billion, another $ 1.6 billion in the irrigation sector. We talk about the destruction of warehouses, fish fields, aquaculture systems and long -term plantings, as well as forced animals, stealing equipment, equipment and crops.
In addition, Ukraine is under the conditions of one of the largest mines in the world: until December 2024, more than 138 thousand km² of land and 14 thousand km² of reservoirs remains potential dirty ammunition and mines, causing a threat of food security.
The plan includes three coherent components:
- Exceptional help – Continue in the first year and provides for the provision of seeds, fertilizers, feeds and other assistance for households and small farmers;
- Monation and restoration of land – specifically in frontline areas;
- Early recovery – Long -term measures to support rural manufacturers, including technical assistance, training, strengthening access to markets.
To implement the plan, the FAO called on international donors to join the cooperation.
Earlier it was reported that USAID has issued Ukrainian agricultural enterprises with 12 thousand tons of fertilizers for the fall sowing campaign.
Remember that Ukrainian farmers use more than 120 thousand hectares of demolished land.
