For the first time since May 1, 2024, natural gas prices in Ukraine have exceeded European gas prices.
Prices for natural gas in Ukraine for the first time in almost a year have exceeded splash prices for natural gas in Europe. Expro Daily Gas reported this on Wednesday, April 30.
According to Natural Gas Expro, the April Resource (UA-VTP-CM) prices in Ukraine on April 29 reached nearly 19,150 UAH/thousand. Cubic meters (with VAT) or 31.8 Euro/MWH, while the prices of the day early in the Dutch TTF reached 31.5 Euro/MWH.
“For the first time since May 1, 2024, natural gas prices in Ukraine have increased above European gas prices, and the spread between prices has reached 0.3/MWH euros in favor of Ukrainian prices. The difference is not to mention the cost of gas transportation in Ukraine,” the statement said.
According to analysts, this situation was formed due to past week’s trends, when natural gas prices in Europe were reduced against the background of hot weather and stable gas uses.
At the same time, gas in Ukraine is growing under the influence of stable demand, especially from the state Naftogaz and the Ukraine GTS operator.
In addition, the supply of the market was reduced, as the UKRNAFTA stopped sale of gas in the market after the Ministers cabinet ordered it to sell gas for Naftogaz as part of the PSO.
Note that Naftogaz until April 2026 expanded the impact of a fixed tariff for gas supply for the population. The price will remain at the level of 7.96 UAH per cubic meter.
