The duties complicated the work of American companies in the field of renewable energy, which depends on cheap foreign ingredients.
The United States has set new duties for up to 3521% of importing solar panels from four countries of Southeast Asia. It was written by Bloomberg on Tuesday, April 22.
It was noted that the duties were the conclusion of the annual trade investigation, which revealed that manufacturers of solar panels in Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand were unfairly benefited from state subsidies and selling exports to the United States at prices below the cost of production.
The investigation was initiated by American manufacturers of solar panels and started under former President Joe Bayden.
For Cambodia, the duties were set to 3521%, reflecting the country’s decision to stop participating in the investigation.
Vietnam companies will receive roles at 395.9%, while in Thailand they are set at 375.2%. Rates for Malaysia are set at 34.4%. For individual companies, increasing duties are installed.
Although new duties are designed to support domestic manufacturers, at the same time they complicate the work of American companies in the field of renewable energy, which traditionally depends on cheap foreign substances.
Last year, the United States imported 12.9 billion dollars from four countries falling under new roles. This is approximately 77% of the total import of solar modules.
Keep in mind that South Korea will not introduce glass roles in American goods, as he believes he has a historical role in the United States.
