Despite all the difficulties caused by a whole war war, the main sector of the economy maintains positive results, the economic ministry noted.
Russian missile shelling and reduction of export volumes led to a slowdown in the Ukrainian economy in early 2025. This is stated in monitoring major economic events of Ukraine (February 2025), published by the Ministry of Economy on Wednesday, April 16.
The department recalled that in February the GDP of Ukraine grew 0.7%, and according to the results of the first two months of the year – by 1.1%.
“A slightly lower indicator at the beginning of the year is a mirror of uneven growth trends last year,” the report said.
The ministry also noted that slowing the rate of economic growth in February occurred due to the flow of gas facilities and a temporary reduction in exporting activities.
At the same time, high budget financing for restoring damaged critical infrastructure, housing construction under programs for improvement and eosel programs, as well as purchasing domestic products of the OPC sector, which has been paid for these negative factors.
“Despite all the difficulties caused by an entire war, the main sector of the economy maintains positive results of labor activities, in particular construction, domestic trade (especially, retail trade) and processing industry. Exit is mining, agriculture and transportation,” the department added.
Keep in mind that according to the results of 2024, Ukraine’s GDP growth slowed down to 2.9%. And by the end of the year, the economy even “went to the minus.” Such data has been published by State Statistics Service.
Earlier, the Ministry of Economy estimated the growth of the Ukraine GDP in 2024 to 3.6%, and the National Bank – at 3.4%. In 2025, the IMF predicts economic growth closer to the lower incidence of 2-3%, the NBU is 3.6%, while 2.9%is laid on the state budget.
