Ukraine’s Bureau of Economic Security has created a contact center for copyright holders and intellectual protection experts. This was announced by the leader of the main division of Beb detectives, Alexander Tkachuk, during the forum, criminal legal protection of intellectual ownership in war conditions.
The center will operate based on the department, which is directly involved in the counterracting counterfeit. Copyright holders can accommodate it online, go through verification and continue to interact with Bureau specialists.
“This step in integrating with other steps should increase not only the level of communication, but also improve the quality of monitoring and, accordingly, responding to operating the facts of illegal circulation of fake goods,” he said.
According to Tkachuk, today the BEB detectives have been documented and completed by the activities of 16 large production products of the worldly known brands in the territory of the Kyiv, Transcarpathian, Odessa, Nikolaev, Chernivtsi and Kirovograd territorial territories.
“55 criminal proceedings against more than 95 people have been sent to court. From the beginning of this year, 17 people have reported suspicion. And the total estimated amount of seized fake products is over 480 million UAH,” he said.
Tkachuk added that in the Bureau, the underground workshops, as well as smuggling goods from China and Turkey, which have been moved to the Ukraine border, are considered the main source of fake acceptance of the Ukraine market. Such products are distributed especially with the help of wholesale markets and online trade. Creating the Center for Intellectual Property Protection under the BEB should ensure better cooperation with lawmakers, state bodies, business associations, copyright holders and the national office of intellectual property and innovations on the issue of counteracting goods in Ukrainian.
