Hungary’s Ministry of Economics has promised that in the case of “non -compliance with the rule”, it will expand control over all food products.
Control of food prices was entered into Hungary on March 17. The country’s prime minister Viktor Orban introduced him after the inflation increased to the highest level in the EU. This was reported by the Reuters News Agency.
Orban, against the rear of inflation and uncertain prospects for economic restoration, has introduced margins restrictions for 30 food groups to prevent prices under control.
Hungary’s Ministry of Economics has promised that if the government is “seeing that retail networks do not comply with the rules”, then the department will “expand them to all food categories.”
“The government is also ready to restore regulated prices as a last resort,” the Ministry of Economics added.
Inflation in Hungary in January reached 5.7% in the annual scale – it was the highest indicator in European Union countries and more than twice on average in the EU (2.8%).
Hungarian retail team Oksz says the latest steps can reduce food inflation by one or two paragraphs, provided that there is no further increase in price in the supply chain.
