The Department of Justice of the United States, along with German and Finland law enforcement officials, has removed the infrastructure of Russian Crypto -railway Garatex, accused of violating penalties and cooking funds. This was reported by the American Department on Friday, March 7.
As mentioned, on March 6, under the leadership of the US Secret Service (USSS), law enforcement officials seized three Russian exchange domains: Garatex.org, Garatex.Io and Garatex.academy. So, Germany and Finland confiscated servers to ensure the operation of the platform.
Even earlier, US authorities received copies of Garatex servers, including customer databases and financial statements. Law enforcement officials also frozen more than $ 26 million, used for money laundering operations.
Garatex reported that on March 7, the largest stablecoin USDT – Tether – blocked their purses for 2.5 billion rubles. After that, the exchange has completely stopped the customer service, as a message appeared on his website about confiscation of the resource of American Intelligence Services.
According to the United States, Garatex from 2019 to 2025 is controlled by a citizen of Lithuania, Alexei Beschekov, and a Russian citizen living in the UAE, Alexander Mira of Serda. American authorities have accused the administrators of the conspiracy exchange to make money.
It was noted that since April 2019, Garatex has been processing a minimum of $ 96 billion in cryptocurrency transactions.
The Russian Crypto-Point Garatex has been under US sanctions since April 2022, and in February 2025 it included lists of penalties in the EU.
