Nac Neftergaz Ukraine and Polish State -own Company Orlen signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This was reported by the NAC press service on Friday, March 7.
The agreement opens up new opportunities to ensure Ukraine’s energy security and its gas supplies vary.
In front of Ukraine, with a powerful gas delivery system and the largest underground gas storage in Europe, the new prospects for the development of the LNG market have opened. Collaboration with Orlen will allow the country to create a more varied gas supply system and combine the European gas market.
Robert Soshinsky, Vice President of Orlen, noted that the memorandum determines the possibilities for long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation. He emphasized that the variety of supplies is critical to ensure energy security not only for Ukraine, but also for Poland and other countries.
As part of the cooperation, Naftogaz and Orlen signed a contract for the supply of nearly 100 million cubic meters. M of gas, which will be delivered to the terminal in Klaipeda, Lithuania. The gas will be transported through the GIPL gas pipeline to the interconnector on the Ukrainian border with Drozdovichi, from which Naftogaz will receive it.
Remember that Ukraine maintains gas imports at a level of 16.3 million cubic meters, continuous purchase at the EU market.
