Check out some of the main events of the first hearing of the legal dispute between NJZ and the ador

1. Justification of the success of NJZ (Newjeans)

According to the South Korean portal Starnews, during the hearing, the ador lawyer claimed that Newjeans only reached the successful level of Hybe’s high investment, which applied about 21.0 billion KRW (about $ 14.5 million) in resources to the group, describing attitude as something “unpublished”.

In addition, the lawyer also claimed that, at the time of debut, the girlgroup would have been promoted as the “next BTS” at the request of Min hee jinIn addition to performing a series of musical Challenges alongside other Hybe artists as a form of promotion: “Newjeans appeared in BTS music videos before their debut and whenever they released a new song, promoted dance challenges with other Hybe artists. Newjeans has been presented as ‘younger sisters of BTS’ from the beginning and were promoted as ‘the next BTS’ and ‘the next BTS’ and ‘overcoming the BTS’ BTS ‘at the request of Min hee jin. This was the only case at Hybe at the time of using the popularity of another group to PR, “he said.

2. Attempt to ruin reputation

After the ador claimed that the success of Newjeans was, in addition to the efforts of the members, thanks to Hybe’s investment, the artists spoke in defense, claiming that the conglomerate would have intentionally tried to harm his reputation after the start of the conflict, citing as an example the tribute they paid to the victims of the plane crash of Jeju Air last year.

The defense of the singers said: “At the time, the members tried to use memorial tapes on the stage in Japan, but Hybe blocked them, saying that this could cause a problem with the Japanese broadcaster. However, after confirming with the Japanese broadcaster, they revealed that there would be no problem. Possibly, Hanni He quickly made ribbons before taking the stage. Then we saw other Hybe artists using memorial tapes. If Newjeans had heard Hybe, we would have been criticized. This is evidence that they are harming the group’s reputation in the back. ”

After the end of the hearing, Hybe issued a note justifying the case of the tape, stating that the group’s accusations would be false. Check it out:

“We would like to clarify that wrong information about the mourning tape is spreading. There is no reason for the company to prevent artists from using a mourning tape. At the time, Hybe was conducting a comprehensive review not only for Newjeans, but also for all the label artists about the use of mourning tapes and the way they would be used. Considering the different transmission conditions in Japan compared to Korea, we inform each label that the previous coordination with the transmission stations was required. In addition, we coordinate with the broadcasters in advance about MC subtitles and comments, explaining the reason for using the mourning tape. During this process, all artists expressed their intention to use the tape, and we also intended to provide the same tape for Newjeans. However, as they expressed their desire to use the tape they prepared themselves, we respect their decision, and it was finalized. ”

3. Different treatment among hybe artists

During the pronouncement of NJZ legal representatives, the artists lawyer claimed that Hybe would have treated Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein differently compared to the other artists of the company, discriminating the singers.

“Hybe’s big media play, abandoning NJZ to create a new female group, Illit plagiarism controversy and the consequences of Dolphiners Film occurred between 2023 and 2024. No other Hybe artist underwent this type of treatment except NJZ.

Other Hybe record labels have continued unfair practices, but the ador does not have the ability to prevent these actions. If this had happened in another company, it would not have been ignored as with NJZ.

Hybe originally promised that the Newjeans debut would be Hybe’s first female group. However, after Newjeans’s debut assessment in March 2021, Hybe neglected the group until September 2021.

In addition, Hyein was chosen as ambassador of a specific brand, but suddenly Le Sserafim was also appointed as ambassadors. When we asked the brand, they confirmed that Hybe had asked and assumed that they had talked about it first. The brand even apologized for the subject, ”said the representative, as reflected by Theqoo (via Koreaboo).

4. Revelation of security cameras images

One of the great controversies of the NJZ dispute against the ador is the accusation of Hanni That a manager of another Hybe group (Illit, according to the company), would have guided the artists to ignore it. This Friday, during the hearing, the conglomerate released the images of the security camera.

In the video, you can see three members of Illit bending at 90º to greet Hanni and Danielle as they passed in the hall. However, as reflected by the Koreaboo Portal, the images do not contain audio, so it was not possible to analyze whether the Illit manager, in fact, gave the instruction to ignore them.
