TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, will still go ahead with a deal, the company’s investors said.
TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, is entering into an agreement to keep the app available in the US. This was said by General Atlantic CEO, which is a major investor in Chinese ByteDance, Bill Ford in a comment to Axios.
Asked if there would be an agreement, Ford said: “Yes, it’s for everyone’s benefit.”
“We will continue to work, probably until the end of the week, to negotiate what can work. The Chinese government, the US government, the company and the board of directors all have to be involved in it will be discussed,” the official said.
According to him, there may be other solutions besides selling the company’s assets.
Former US President Joe Biden’s administration is partly to blame for the situation reaching a boiling point because it “didn’t have a real conversation with us,” Ford said.
The General Atlantic CEO also noted that Donald Trump also tried to ban TikTok in the final days of his previous term, before changing course in the recent campaign.
We remind you that on January 17, the US Supreme Court adopted the law that requires the blocking of TikTok if the Chinese ByteDance does not sell this platform to an American company.
