Bulgaria has a long-term contract with Azerbaijan for gas supplies in the amount of 1 billion cubic meters per year.
Azerbaijan has resumed gas supplies to Bulgaria after a temporary stop in January for technical reasons. This was reported by the Bulgarian state natural gas supplier Bulgargaz.
“Gas supplies to Bulgaria under a long-term contract with Azerbaijan resumed on Sunday, January 19,” the statement said.
As previously reported, Bulgargaz announced that on January 7, Azerbaijan temporarily stopped gas supplies to Bulgaria due to technical problems. The company initially said supplies would resume on January 11, but on January 10, British BP reported a technical problem with the pipeline. To fix the problem, the platform has been temporarily stopped.
BP-Azerbaijan subsequently announced that it resumed production from the Shah Deniz Alpha platform on the evening of January 18 after the condensate pipeline problem was fully resolved.
“Currently, production and export operations are being ramped up on the Shah Deniz Alpha platform, and reaching full capacity will take several days,” BP-Azerbaijan clarified.
The stoppage of production from the platform affected the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Bulgaria and Serbia.

Let’s recall that Azerbaijan proposed to Ukraine and the European Union to supply natural gas to Europe through the Ukrainian gas transportation system against the backdrop of the expiration of the contract with the Russian Federation.
