Azerbaijan has experienced force majeure circumstances and has not yet been able to supply gas to Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic said.
Gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Serbia have been suspended indefinitely. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said this, Tanjug agency reported on Saturday, January 11.
According to him, the Azerbaijani side gave him the relevant information.
“I received information from our Azerbaijani brothers and friends that due to force majeure and the problems they encountered, today we do not rely on the 1.7 million cubic meters of gas supplied daily,” Vucic said.
He said it was not yet clear when gas supplies would resume.
“This means that from now on we will start using gas reserves,” Vucic said.
Let’s remember that in 2023, Serbia signed an agreement with Azerbaijan on the purchase of 400 million cubic meters of gas per year from 2024. In total, Serbia needs more than 3 billion cubic meters per year. The rest of the gas comes from Russia.
