The hryvnia exchange rate fell sharply against the dollar and euro on the cash market. It was reported by RBC-Ukraine in reference to tracking data on Monday, January 6.
The average selling rate of the dollar in Ukraine increased by 20 kopecks, to 42.70 UAH, the euro exchange rate immediately jumped by 55 kopecks, to 44.25 UAH.
Today, exchange offices buy dollars on average for 42.20 UAH, and euros for 43.55 UAH.
In the interbank market, the American currency is at the level of 42.15-42.18 UAH/dollar (buying and selling) – an increase of 4 kopecks compared to the previous day’s close.
On Friday, the National Bank raised the dollar to hryvnia exchange rate to a new historical high – UAH 42.0889 (+0.0504 UAH). The official euro exchange rate is UAH 43.3347 (-0.0406 UAH).
Let us remind you that in the past week the National Bank has significantly reduced support for the Hryvnia. The lowest amount of currency was sold in the interbank market for the month.
It was also found that in December, Ukrainians increased the purchase of foreign currency from banks – to almost $3 billion.
