The National Bank said that the largest number of depositors are in state-owned PrivatBank and Oschadbank – 24 million and 13 million people, respectively.
As of December 1, 2024, 1 trillion 347 billion hryvnias were stored in the banks of the Deposit Guarantee Fund. More than a third of deposits (35.7%) are in dollars and euros. This is confirmed by data from the National Bank.
The state-owned PrivatBank has 24.0 million depositors who keep 507.2 billion hryvnias. In second place is the state-owned Oschadbank – 13.0 million depositors, value – 208.3 billion Hryvnia, in third place is the private Universal Bank – 9.0 million depositors, value – 100.4 billion Hryvnia.
Next came banks of foreign banking groups Raiffeisen Bank – number of depositors – 3.3 million, value – 77.7 billion Hryvnia and Ukrsibbank – number of depositors – 2.3 million, value – 62.1 billion Hryvnia.
According to the NBU, as of December 1, 2024, there were 69.5 million deposits of citizens and individual entrepreneurs in 62 participating banks of the Deposit Guarantee Fund.
The majority of deposits are in national currency: 59.2 million deposits worth 866 billion hryvnias. There are 10.3 million foreign currency deposits worth UAH 481 billion.
As reported, in December the dollar exchange rate repeatedly updated record levels against the Hryvnia. Overall, since the beginning of 2024, the dollar at the official exchange rate has increased in price by 10.4% or by 3.93 UAH.
We remind you that on December 12, the National Bank unexpectedly increased the discount rate. The regulator made this decision in response to inflation rising to 11.2% in November.
