In the interbank market, the American currency added 12 kopecks to the price at 42.23-42.26 UAH/dollar (buying and selling).
The National Bank of Ukraine again raised the exchange rate of the dollar against the hryvnia to a historic high. This was confirmed by data on the regulator’s website on Monday.
The official exchange rate for tomorrow is set at 42.1959 UAH per dollar (+0.1070 UAH). The euro exchange rate jumped further and will reach 43.9091 UAH (+0.5744 UAH).
In the interbank market, the American currency rose in price by 12 kopecks – to 42.23-42.26 UAH/dollar (buying and selling) compared to the previous day’s close.
In exchange offices, the value of the dollar increased by 5 kopecks to UAH 42.50.
In this regard, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Daniil Getmantsev, said that in 2024 the Hryvnia devalued at the official rate by 9.7%, dropping from 38 UAH/$ to 42.04 UAH/ $. The national currency weakened in all months except October.
Note that the current situation for the Hryvnia is also annoying because the dollar exchange rate has fallen in world markets. It comes amid bets that US President-elect Donald Trump’s tariff plans will not be as broad as expected.
Let us remind you that in the past week the National Bank has significantly reduced support for the Hryvnia. The lowest amount of currency was sold in the interbank market for the month.
It was also found that in December, Ukrainians increased the purchase of foreign currency from banks – to almost $3 billion.
