Moldova is ready to help Pridnestrovie in providing energy resources in a crisis situation, noted in Chisinau.
The Moldovagaz company bought natural gas in test mode from Bulgaria, delivered to the country through the Trans-Balkan gas corridor. This was announced the other day by… O. Chairman of the Board of Moldovagaz Vadim Ceban on Telegram.
“On December 31, 2024, the purchase of natural gas in Bulgaria, on the Balkan Gas Hub platform, for JSC Moldovagaz was successfully carried out in test mode. The amount of gas purchased was 240 MWh, which was transported along Trans-Balkan corridor through Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine to the interconnection point Keuseni, on the border of the Republic of Moldova,” he wrote.
Cheban also emphasized that Moldovagaz, together with Energocom JSC (Moldavian state importer of energy resources – ed.), is ready to help, including technical and commercial support, Tiraspoltransgaz LLC (GTS operator in Transnistria – ed.) in arranging the purchase of natural gas on any European gas platform at market conditions to provide the residents of the left bank of the Dniester with energy resources in the current crisis situation.”
The Moldovan side sent a corresponding official letter to the management of Tiraspoltransgaz LLC.
“Natural gas can be supplied through various alternative transport routes to the border of the Republic of Moldova, based on an agency agreement with Tiraspoltransgaz LLC,” Ceban added.
We remind you that on January 1, Ukraine suspended the transit of Russian gas. The contract with Gazprom has expired. As a result, gas supplies to Transnistria (left bank) via Moldova (right bank) were also stopped. The buyer of gas from Gazprom is its subsidiary Moldovagaz, which sends the entire volume of purchased fuel to Transnistria.
Right Bank Moldova has been buying gas for domestic needs from European suppliers for several years. And Transnistria was left without gas, heat and hot water.
