In Ukraine, by the end of 2024, the total capacity of distributed gas generation units will reach 967 MW, of which 835 MW have been put into operation this year. The Ministry of Energy announced this on Tuesday, December 31.
“Before the end of the heating season 2024-2025, it is planned to connect approximately 900 additional MW of gas capacity will be available and used”, the message said.
According to network operators, a number of generating facilities connected to technological electrical networks meet the own electricity needs of businesses and communities. As a result, the overall level of consumption in the unified energy system of Ukraine has decreased and the security of energy supply has increased.
“Work continues to connect additional building capacities. The government has made all the necessary decisions to simplify the permitting procedures as much as possible and speed up construction and connection times. The positive results of these decisions is now noticeable. By the end of the autumn -winter season 2024-2025, we expect the connection of about 900 MW of distributed generation facilities,” said Energy Minister German Galushchenko.
Remind us that last November the first gas piston unit was launched in Kyiv. It is capable of providing 1.5 MW of energy for critical infrastructure.
Also in early November, Odessa received the first of four gas piston stations planned to be installed in the city with financial assistance from the governments of Japan, Norway and Sweden.
