Beijing will spend $137 billion on the new hydroelectric power plant, which will be the largest single infrastructure project in the world.
China will build the world’s largest hydroelectric power station in southern Tibet. This was reported by Reuters on Thursday, December 26.
The country’s government has reportedly approved the construction of a dam on the Yarlung Tsangpo River, the longest in the region known as the Xizang Autonomous Region.
According to forecasts, this hydroelectric power station will generate about 300 billion kWh per year, which is more than three times higher than the Three Gorges hydroelectric power station, which is currently the largest in the world.
“It is also of great importance for the country’s strategy to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, as well as to combat global climate change,” the report said, citing Xinhua.
Beijing is expected to spend more than 1 trillion yuan ($137 billion) on the new hydropower plant, which would be the world’s largest single infrastructure project to date.
It will be remembered that China built a giant port in South America. It will be the main hub for the supply of Chinese goods to the American continent and the import of resources to China.
