Since the beginning of 2024, the dollar has increased by almost 4 hryvnias (10.1%) from 37.98 UAH/dollar on December 31, 2023.
The National Bank of Ukraine has again reduced the exchange rate of the hryvnia against the dollar and the euro. The American currency updated its historic high for the second day in a row. This was confirmed by data on the regulator’s website on Tuesday, December 17.
So, the official exchange rate for tomorrow is set at UAH 41.8271 (+0.0868 UAH). Since the beginning of the year, the dollar has increased by almost 4 hryvnias (10.1%) from 37.98 UAH/dollar on December 31, 2023.
The official euro exchange rate on Thursday will be 43.9143 UAH (+0.1079 UAH).
In the interbank market, the American currency added another 9 kopecks to the price – at 41.86-41.88 UAH/dollar (buying and selling) compared to the previous day’s close.
Meanwhile, in the cash market the dollar exchange rate was stable and remained at the level of UAH 42.00.
Remind us that last week the NBU sold more than $1 billion in the interbank market – the highest volume in the past six months. Since the beginning of the year, the regulator has sold more than $31 billion.
As you know, on December 12, the National Bank unexpectedly increased the discount rate. The regulator made this decision in response to inflation rising to 11.2% in November.
