Mobile application developers with bank accounts in Russia will not be able to receive payments for them in the Google Play digital store from December 26. This was reported by The Moscow Times on Friday, December 13.
“We will deny any attempts by users to purchase your paid software, make in-app purchases (including new subscriptions), and renew subscriptions through Google Play Payments,” said Google the letter.
The decision will take effect at 00:00 on December 26. The remaining balance will be paid on January 15th.
This is not the first restriction on Google’s part regarding Russian developers and users.
In May 2022, an American corporation banned Russian developers from downloading and updating paid programs on Google Play. As a result, the online store cannot host paid applications for users from Russia. Therefore, developers will not receive monetization in the Russian segment.
In August, the contextual advertising service Google AdSense will completely reduce its activities on the Russian Internet and disable the accounts of users from the Russian Federation.
Let’s remember that Russia previously fined the American company Google $20,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (20 decillion dollars).
