Investments Minister Rozan Roslani said the details of the planned investments are still being agreed upon.
Apple plans to invest $1 billion in a manufacturing plant in Indonesia that makes components for smartphones and other products. It was reported by Reuters.
According to Investment Minister Rozan Roslani, the details of the investment plans are still being agreed upon.
“Some issues will still be discussed with them… We hope that everything will be announced next week after a written commitment received from them,” he said.
Apple currently has no manufacturing facilities in Indonesia, a country of about 280 million people, but has established an academy for app developers since 2018. Indonesia sees the strategy as an attempt to meet demand for local components to sell older iPhone models.
We remind you that Indonesia has blocked the sale of new smartphones from Apple Inc. The reason is that the American company did not meet the requirements to invest in the country.
