AMCU noted that the rapid increase in the price of chicken eggs in October 2024 was similar to what happened in September-October 2022.
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine is investigating the reasons for the increase in the price of chicken eggs that started in October. This was reported by the AMCU press service.
It is noted that the requirements are sent to provide information to business entities that directly produce eggs and constitute the main supply in the relevant product market; carry out business activities selling eggs; carry out the creation of compound feeds, the price of which is one of the main components of the cost of eggs.
AMCU reminded that this is not the first time they have reacted to the situation with a price increase for this category of goods.
So, in October 2022, a study was launched on the reasons for the increase in the prices of chicken eggs in domestic retail chains. During the study, information was collected and analyzed from market participants at each link in the turnover of goods on the way from the manufacturer to the final consumer.
At the stage of making conclusions in this study, AMCU noticed that the rapid increase in the prices of chicken eggs in October 2024 was similar to what happened in September-October 2022.
“In consideration of the above, the time frame of the study has been extended to cover the situation in 2024. At the same time, the subject, object and composition of the subject of the study remain unchanged,” the statement said.
AMCU added that after receiving responses from market participants on the requirements and subsequent analysis of all the factors that influence the pricing behavior of business entities at each level of the transfer of goods, the final conclusions will be drawn regarding the presence or absence in the actions of the participants of the involved commodity market of signs of violation of the law on the protection of economic competition.
We remind you that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy explains the jump in egg prices to the weather and the fact that this year they were made 5% less than last year in the same period.
