The Austrian company does not rule out that the Russian gas giant will now try to stop gas supplies.
The Austrian oil and gas company OMV won a claim in the arbitration court for 230 million euros against the Russian Gazprom in a dispute over the interruption of gas supplies under a “German” contract. This was reported by the Austrian news agency APA.
The amount of the claim will be immediately applied to OMV’s obligations to Gazprom exports under a contract for the supply of gas to Austria.
OMV does not rule out that Gazprom could stop gas supplies to Austria for this. However, the company assured that it is well prepared for this option, creating alternative routes for gas supplies from other sources, as well as additional capacity for such supplies.
“OMV confirms that the company will be able to provide its customers with the volumes of gas specified in the contracts, even in the event of the expected cessation of supplies from outside. Gazprom exports“, said the company.
OMV initiated an arbitration claim in January last year over the losses it incurred due to irregular gas supplies from Gazprom exports through Germany and ultimately due to their complete cessation in September 2022.
We remind you that the Austrian company Wien Energie GmbH said that starting next year, for the first time in the past several decades, it will no longer need Russian fuel.
