The World Bank announced a new support package for Ukraine worth $750 million. Prime Minister Denis Shmygal announced this on Telegram on Friday, November 8.
“The funds will be provided under the Supporting Recovery through Sound Fiscal Management (SURGE) project, which aims to support the institutional reforms required for accession to the European Union. ” he wrote.
According to Shmygal, the implementation of the program will help strengthen the work of state institutions in war conditions and provide basic government services to citizens in full.
The Prime Minister also added that the reforms under the project aim to improve the efficiency of the management of public investments and public finances. If necessary, the fund can be increased.
Earlier this week it became known that Ukraine entered into agreements with the World Bank worth about $600 million under the new program. It aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises, green transition, digitalization and facilitating entry into new markets.
The World Bank will also create a special fund for Ukraine, its size will be at least $10 billion.
