The Razumkov Center added: 45% of respondents reported that they could afford to buy higher quality and more expensive products.
When buying food, slightly less than half of Ukrainians (44%) often try to buy cheaper products, despite the quality. This is confirmed by the results of a sociological survey conducted by the Razumkov Center from September 20 to 26.
However, 45% of respondents reported that they could afford better and more expensive products, and another 11% of respondents could not give a definite answer.
The study found that since the start of the full invasion, the proportion of citizens struggling to make ends meet has increased – 12%, compared to 9% in 2021.
However, the share of people who feel rich and cannot afford large purchases has also increased (from 6% to 9%).
Also decreased (from 44% to 41%) is the number of people who live well but find it difficult to buy durable goods such as furniture or household appliances.
In addition, compared to 2005, the proportion of citizens living on wages has increased (from 38% to 54%), and the proportion of those receiving basic income through pensions or social benefits has decreased (from 38 % to 29%).
The survey was conducted using a face-to-face method in territories controlled by the government of Ukraine, where there is no conflict, and covered 2,016 respondents aged 18 and over.
The theoretical sampling error is no more than 2.3%.
