Next year, a boom in distributed generation is expected, as it is not only a guaranteed energy supply, but also profitable business projects.
By the end of the year, Ukraine is expected to have from 600 to 800 MW of small power generation facilities capable of providing guaranteed energy supply to businesses and communities that have time to install them. This was announced by the Advisor to the Prime Minister, member of the supervisory board of Ukrenergo Yuriy Boyko, Interfax-Ukraine reports on Wednesday, November 6.
“There are estimates that by the end of the year, from 600 to 800 MW of distributed generation will be commissioned in Ukraine see and declare guarantees of energy supply and readiness for any shelling scenarios, but locally, for those having installed it, it will be a guaranteed energy supply under any scenario,” he said.
Boyko noted that he expects a boom in distributed generation next year, because it is not only a guaranteed supply of energy, but also profitable business projects, given the electricity prices in the market.
“Therefore, these projects will definitely continue, and the indicators for next year will be higher,” said the advisor to the prime minister.
Let’s recall that, according to President Vladimir Zelensky, Ukraine, with the help of partners, intends to build up to 1 gigawatt of gas-fired flexible generation in 2024 and another 4 gigawatts in the coming years.
The IMF predicts that the maximum electricity shortage in Ukraine in the winter of 2024-2025 will be 3-4 gigawatts.
