The country’s authorities require that at least 40% of the components in smartphones and tablets sold in Indonesia are made domestically.
Indonesia has blocked the sale of Google smartphones in the country (owned by Alphabet Inc.) due to the American company’s non-compliance with requirements for using local parts in the gadgets. The Financial Times reported this.
It was noted that the country’s authorities require that at least 40% of the components in smartphones and tablets sold in Indonesia are produced domestically.
Google’s Pixel smartphones cannot be sold in Indonesia “unless the products are certified to meet these requirements,” according to Industry Ministry spokesman Febri Hendry Anthony Arief.
We remind you that Indonesia has previously banned the sale of new smartphones from Apple Inc. due to insufficient investment in the country.
