On October 21, 651 cases of bankruptcy of individuals were opened in Ukraine. In the last four months, the number of cases has almost doubled. This is proven by data from Opendatabot.
Most of the bankruptcy cases were registered in Kyiv and the region, as well as in the Dnepropetrovsk region. The overwhelming majority of debtors (64%) are people aged 25 to 45 years.
It was noted that more cases were opened than in the entire previous year, where 575 cases were considered.
Bankruptcy applications are most often filed by people between 25 and 45 years of age (64.1% of all cases). Individuals over 45 account for another 28.7% of bankruptcies.
According to arbitration administrator Denis Likhopek, the current increase in bankruptcies is likely due to “pent-up demand” rather than a specific factor.
“At the beginning of the war, people did not have time to solve financial problems, because there were other priorities that also had a moratorium on debt collection, which was later removed, intensifying appeals in the method of bankruptcy at present, positive judicial practice in these cases is being developed,” said He.
We remind you that in the first half of 2024, Ukrainians opened more than 148 thousand individual entrepreneurs, which is 10.8% more than in the same period in 2023.
It was also reported that more than 43 thousand individual entrepreneurs in Ukraine in 2024 were registered by women. This is more than half of the total number of newly formed individual entrepreneurs in the first quarter of this year.
