Operators of the Unmanned Systems Forces discovered and destroyed the launcher of the Buk-M3 medium-range anti-aircraft missile system.
The corresponding video was published today, October 21, by the SBS press service.
This example once again demonstrates the effectiveness of modern technologies: ammunition costing only $500 destroyed the strike component of an enemy air defense system, which in a “full configuration” is estimated at approximately $100 million, SBS notes.
The video shows the launcher being destroyed by explosives being dropped from a drone.
The usual operating distance of drone bombers is 20 km, Militarny writes.
This distance can be increased to 40 km for modified boards with a satellite communication antenna, where the operating radius is limited by the battery energy reserve.
The use and successful destruction of a target at a distance of 60 km can be called a record for such a weapon.
The Buk-M3 is a medium-range anti-aircraft system that is an extremely important component of the air defense of the occupiers. It provides cover for ground forces from Ukrainian aviation and is capable of operating from rear areas against targets outside the front.
A characteristic feature of this complex, which visually distinguishes it from the previous Buk-M2 model, is the new anti-aircraft missiles stored in sealed cylindrical transport and launch containers. The new missiles of the complex have significantly expanded its potential, ensuring the interception of aerodynamic targets at a distance of up to 70 and an altitude of up to 35 km.
