“In September 2024, 13.84 million tons of cargo were transported by rail (+1.79 million tons, or + 14.9% of the volumes in September 2023). In January-September 2024, 131.88 million tons (+24.88 million tons (+24.88 million tons). , or +23.3% compared to the same period in 2023),” he wrote.
Tkachev noted that the amount of cargo carried by the train in nine months was a record for wartime.
In particular, the volume of export traffic in January-September 2024 compared to the same period last year increased by 66.4% and reached 63.92 million tons.
Tkachev explained the significant increase in export traffic in Ukrzaliznytsia by the effective work of the Ukrainian cargo export corridor through the ports of Odessa and the recovery of the Ukrainian economy as a whole.
The structure of export transport by rail in September 2024 was dominated by iron and manganese ores – 2.36 million tons (38.2% of the total volume of export transport). In second place was grain cargo, where 2.29 million tons (37.0%) were transported. Ferrous metals were transported by 0.494 million tons (8.0%).
In September, the volume of cement transportation reached a record level of 174 thousand tons, while at the same time, the transportation of grain cargoes for export since the beginning of the year reached more than 25.7 million tons .
