In September, Ukrainians bought 5.7 thousand new passenger cars, reports Ukravtoprom. Compared to August, the market has cooled significantly, down 30%. The Ukravtoprom association reported this on Tuesday, October 1.
Analysts called this trend an expected result of abnormally high demand in August, which occurred amid rumors of an increase in taxes on the first registration of passenger cars.
However, in relation to September 2023, the demand for new cars remained almost unchanged, although slightly increased (+0.1%).
TOYOTA continues to lead the market. During the month, 840 new cars of this Japanese brand were registered. In annual terms, September demand for new Toyotas fell 13%.
RENAULT has the second result – 541 cars, which is 21% more than last year.
SKODA is in third place – 443 units. (-5%).
While BMW closes the top five with 433 units. (-12%) and VOLKSWAGEN – 336 units. (-48%).
At the same time, the title of September’s best seller once again went to RENAULT Duster – 504 registrations.
In total, from January to September 2024, Ukrainians bought 53 thousand new passenger cars, which is 21% more than in the same period last year.
It was previously reported that in the five months of 2024, a record number of electric cars were delivered to Ukraine – 20,785.
Over the past six months, 21.2 thousand used cars from the United States of America were registered in Ukraine. That is, 19% of the used cars that switched to Ukrainian license plates from January to June were from the USA.
