Ukraine started importing potatoes from Poland and Lithuania. According to official statistics, from September 1 to 23, the country has already received three truckloads of potatoes: 22 tons from Lithuania, worth $10.56,000, and 42 tons from Poland, worth $20.164,000, it was reported by EastFruit analysts.
According to the State Customs Service, in the period from January to August 2024, Ukraine imported 15 thousand tons of potatoes. Potato exports during this period reached only 760 tons valued at $215,000, while imports reached 15.356 thousand tons valued at $9.324 million.
According to analysts, potato imports began due to increased demand for ware potatoes among local wholesale companies and retail chains, as well as speculation about a potential lack of potato quality.
