New restrictions apply to real estate transactions, as well as the purchase of watches and jewelry.
The National Bank of Ukraine has limited the use of cards from Ukrainian banks abroad. The regulator announced this on Monday, September 9.
It is indicated that increased restrictions apply to payment for such goods and services abroad: purchases of watches, jewelry, silver products, precious stones and coins.
The NBU sets a monthly limit of 100 thousand hryvnia equivalents for payments abroad using payment cards opened by Ukrainian banks for foreign currency accounts, for transactions with merchant codes 5094 (precious stones, metals and jewellery), 5944 (watches, jewelery and silver. ) and 5972 (coin and stamp stores).
“The need for this proposal was demonstrated by an analysis conducted by the NBU on the participation of banks and payment systems. It confirmed the existence of attempts to avoid the restriction on the purchase of banking metals outside of Ukraine , which the NBU established for the period of martial law,” said the message.
Restrictions on transactions with agents and property managers abroad were also introduced.
A monthly limit of 500,000 hryvnias was established in the equivalent of transactions in merchant code 6513 (real estate agents and managers). Transactions with this code are used to pay management fees, accommodation fees and related fees.
“The limit of UAH 500,000 takes into account the needs of Ukrainians located outside Ukraine or traveling abroad, and meets the needs of 98% of bank clients who carry out these transactions will avoid attempts to circumvent the restrictions established by the NBU on relevant transactions and prevent the outflow of capital from Ukraine to large volumes,” the regulator said.
We remind you that in August the National Bank introduced a limit on transfers from card to card. So, the regulator has declared war on “drops”.
