President Vladimir Zelensky signed a law amending the Tax Code of Ukraine to implement the provisions of European Union law on excise tax. MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced this on Telegram on Monday, September 2.
“The President signed (draft bill – ed.) No. 11256-2 on the increase in excise taxes on September 1. It will take effect as published in the official publication, either today or tomorrow.
As is known, on July 18, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in its entirety bill No. 11256-2 on amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine to implement the provisions of EU law on excise tax.
The document provides for a gradual increase in excise taxes on various types of fuel until January 1, 2028. The transition phase should begin on September 1, 2024. In the final phase, the excise tax on fuel will will be 359 euros per 1000 liters, on diesel fuel – 330 euros per 1000 liters, on liquefied gas – 250 euros per 1000 liters.
