Connecting the power unit will help balance the country’s energy system and avoid electricity restrictions.
In Ukraine, another nuclear unit was received ahead of the repair schedule. The Ministry of Energy announced this on Friday, August 23.
“Today, a nuclear unit is connected to the energy system, which will add 1,000 MW of power and stability to the energy system and make it possible not to apply energy supply restrictions to consumers,” the statement said.
Energy Minister German Galushchenko said that electrical engineers are now doing incredible things in a difficult situation so that Ukrainians can stay with light and heat.
“Today, ahead of schedule, but in compliance with all safety standards, another nuclear unit has completed scheduled repairs and maintenance of its connection will help balance the country’s energy system and avoid power restrictions,” he said.
We remind you that in July two units of the nuclear power plant went out of repair. It also helped to stabilize the situation during the heat wave in Ukraine.
After that, Ukrenergo said that the situation in the energy system has improved, and the most difficult summer period has ended.
