The leaders in the growth of overdue wages in July of this year were the Perm Territory and the Lipetsk Region.
In July 2024, the Russian economy experienced a significant increase in overdue wages. Amounts not paid to employees increased by 100.5 million rubles, and the total amount of employers’ debts to employees reached 427.4 million rubles. This is confirmed by Rosstat data.
In percentage terms, the increase in overdue wage arrears – by 30.7% per month – is a record since January 2013 (then wage arrears jumped by 47.4%).
However, employers’ debt to employees remains low by historical standards. So, at the end of 2019 it will be 2.1 billion rubles, at the end of 2020 – 1.6 billion, at the end of 2021 – 758 million, at the end of 2022 – 642 million rubles.
The leading regions in the growth of overdue wages in July of this year were the Perm Territory and the Lipetsk Region: there the amounts unpaid to employees for the month jumped 11 times and 8.3 times, respectively.
Overdue debt in Moscow increased 7.4 times, accounting for almost 10% of wage arrears across the country: 42.4 million rubles.
The size of wage debts jumped more than 5 times in Karachay-Cherkessia, 2.6 times in Khabarovsk Territory and Sakhalin, 2.1 times in Kamchatka, doubled in Sverdlovsk region, by 83.5% in Murmansk region, by 41% in Volgograd region.
Mainly Russian business is facing problems. The regions have accumulated about 21 million rubles in debt to state employees: in annual terms, this amount has increased 22 times.
