The initiators of the bill explained that today the living wage declared in the state budget is clearly insufficient to meet human needs.
The Ministry of Social Policy is now finalizing work on a draft law proposing to introduce basic social assistance in Ukraine instead of the subsistence minimum. This was announced by the Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovich during the telethon.
It is now argued that the living wage declared in the state budget is clearly insufficient to meet human needs.
“For example, it does not take into account that we live in households. Obviously, a single person needs less money than a household with five or six people who share the costs … Therefore, we want to move away from in the old subsistence. For this we developed a new bill on basic social assistance, whose criteria will include the minimum household income,” the minister explained the initiative.
Final document approvals are currently underway. The department also plans to issue a pilot resolution.
