The Government of the National Bank plans to consider the relevant decision at the end of the week.
In Ukraine, by the end of the week, restrictions will be introduced on card-to-card transfers for individuals as part of the fight against shadow schemes. This was said by the head of the National Bank Andrei Pyshny in an interview with Economic Pravda.
According to the head of the NBU, the need to introduce restrictions on initial P2P transfers was discussed at the end of May. This is necessary in the fight against shadow financial transactions, known as drops, when fraudsters buy personal data from ordinary citizens and open bank cards.
The NBU government plans to consider the relevant decision at the end of this week.
“I think now we are finalizing the final decision, and next week (from August 12 to 18 – ed.) we will consider it in the board,” said Pyshny.
As noted by the head of the National Bank, the announcement of the restrictions “caused a flurry of criticism and misunderstanding.”
“We held several meetings with the volunteers, collected our comments on how the design of the planned solution will allow the banks to take into account the needs of the volunteers, and answered the questions The level of discussion is reduced to confirm the decision announced by the National Bank” , he added.
Pyshny said that in order to create additional tools to more effectively combat drop schemes, legislative changes are also needed.
Earlier it was reported that the NBU plans to introduce a limit on the transfer of funds from card to card to 30 transactions per month in an amount not exceeding 100 thousand hryvnia. However, banks can increase this limit.
