The fact that remote data transmission does not work again only increases the urgency of sending the IAEA mission to the Zaporozhye NPP, the organization believes.
The International Atomic Energy Agency has once again stopped remotely receiving data from monitoring systems installed at the temporarily occupied Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant. This was reported on the IAEA website on Wednesday, June 29th.
“The IAEA has once again lost remote communication with its safeguards monitoring system installed at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant. This highlights the need for the IAEA to go to the facility as soon as possible,” said Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi.
He believes that the fact that remote data transmission no longer works since June 25 only increases the urgency of sending an IAEA mission to the Zaporozhye NPP.
According to the director general, the IAEA is also faced with the partial loss of remote transmission of data safeguards from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
It should be noted that on June 13 the connection between ZNPP and IAEA was restored. He disappeared at the end of May.
Earlier, the head of the IAEA spoke about the danger to the safety of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. According to him, at least five of the seven vital foundations of nuclear safety and protection have been compromised at the plant.
At the same time, Energoatom banned Grossi from visiting ZNPP. A visit to the station will be possible only when Ukraine regains control of it.
