Russian gas transit to Ukraine fell to its lowest level since May 2023

The transit of Russian gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system on Thursday, August 8, decreased to 37.25 million cubic meters. m. This is confirmed by the confirmed nominations of the Ukrainian GTS Operator at the Sudzha entry point, ExPro reports.

Compared to the previous day, the number of vehicles decreased by 6%. This is the lowest transit cost since May 1, 2023.

Traditionally, the volume of Russian gas transit through Ukraine is approximately 42-42.4 million cubic meters per day.

So far, the reasons for the reduction in transit are unknown.

The previous day, GTS Operator reported that transit of Russian gas continues as normal.

We remind you that on August 7, information appeared in the media that the Ukrainian Armed Forces took control of the Sudzha gas measuring station in the Kursk region of Russia.

The Sudzha gas metering station is a key facility for Russian gas supplies to Europe via Ukraine. Today it is the only point where Russian gas enters Ukraine for its transport to Europe.

Amid the fighting in the Kursk region, gas prices in Europe jumped 5.5% to 38.7 euros/MWh ($445 per 1,000 cubic meters), the highest value since December 2023.
