The winners of the auction will receive a fixed contract in euros with the option to postpone the provision of services for one year.
NEC Ukrenergo announced the first long-term auctions for the purchase of ancillary services for balancing the energy system. The company’s press service reported this on Tuesday, August 6.
The first auctions will be held on August 15 and 22.
Ukrenergo plans to purchase services for the provision of various types of reserves by signing agreements with auction winners for 5 years with a postponement of the provision of services for up to one year.
As Vladimir Kudrytsky, Chairman of the Board of NEC Ukrenergo, said, such auction conditions are a unique opportunity for investors, businesses and communities to both ensure energy independence and expand or start a new business.
The winners of the auction will receive a fixed contract in euros with the option to postpone the provision of services for one year. That means, the winners will have until September 2025 to build a power plant or installation capable of balancing the energy system.
At the same time, the tariff proposed by Ukrenergo will be higher than what European energy system operators pay.
According to Kudrytsky, the auctions will be a revolutionary step in the development of distributed generation in Ukraine.
To build a system resistant to possible attacks in the next few years in Ukraine you need:
-
+4.0 GW of new wind power plant capacity;
-
+ 3.8 GW of solar power plants;
-
+ 1.4 GW of gas generation capacity;
-
+ 1.1 GW of capacity of new biofuel thermal power plants;
-
+0.8 GW of energy storage capacity.
The construction of the system requires approximately 12-13 billion euros.
We remind you that Ukraine, with the help of partners, intends to build up to 1 gigawatt of gas-fired maneuverable generation by 2024 and another 4 gigawatts in the coming years.
Earlier, Galushchenko said that due to the continuation of the Russian occupation, the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is deteriorating and, upon returning to Ukrainian control, it will take many years to resume and restart it.
