Bookings of hotels and resorts across the country by holidaymakers have surpassed 2019 figures.
In six months of 2024, representatives of the Ukrainian tourism industry paid UAH 1.25 billion to the budget, which is almost a quarter more than in 2021, when UAH 1.88 billion of taxes were paid to the treasury. The press service of the State Agency for Tourism Development reported this on Thursday, August 1.
According to the report, last year 897 million UAH were received in the first half of the year.
As the agency points out, in the six months of 2024, the total number of taxpayers engaged in tourism activities increased by 13% compared to the same period in 2023. The number of legal entities increased by 4%, and individuals – by 17%.
The largest share of state budget revenues – 65% – was paid by hotels (UAH 809 million). In 2023, 570 million UAH were paid), and for the same period in 2021 – 665 million UAH. Travel companies and agencies are also in the top three.
According to the head of the State Agency for Tourism Development, Maryana Oleskiv, one of the reasons for the increase in the amount of tax revenues, in addition to inflationary processes, is the increase in tourist flows in within the country.
“Data from one of the booking platforms shows that bookings across the country this year have exceeded the numbers for 2019. And this indicates that domestic tourism in Ukraine is developing,” he said.
More than 20 tourist routes were closed to the public in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Also, due to restrictions related to the strengthening of the border regime, entry into the five-kilometer border zone is prohibited.
In the Canary Islands, local residents are against mass tourism. They held rallies to call on the authorities to temporarily limit the influx of travelers.
