This week, the National Bank of Ukraine reduced the net sales of money in the interbank market to $784.6 million from $949.9 million. This was confirmed by data on the regulator’s website on Sunday, July 28.
The volume of central bank money purchases almost doubled – to $0.51 million, but remains insignificant. Foreign currency sales decreased 17% to $785.1 million.
At the same time, the official exchange rate of the Hryvnia was strengthened by 39 kopecks. – up to 41.0980 UAH. Since the beginning of 2024, the dollar has increased in price by 8.2% (UAH 3.09). As you know, recently the dollar exchange rate regularly updated its historical record. Overall, in July the official exchange rate of the Hryvnia fell by 2.6% or UAH 1.04. From the beginning of 2024, the dollar at the official exchange rate has become more expensive by 9.2% or 3.49 UAH.
But in recent days the trend has changed – the hryvnia has again gained some ground against the dollar. Today, the head of the National Bank, Andrei Pyshny, said that the stability of the foreign exchange market has been restored.
