Ukrainian honey, corn and poultry may be subject to European Union duties.
Ukraine is approaching the limits on the supply of honey, corn and poultry to the European Union. This was reported by the Directorate General of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The closest to exceeding the quota is honey, its export has reached 89% of the limits, corn – 67% and chicken – 59%.
The European Union monitors the situation regarding sensitive products in their market.
The current duty-free trade regulations for Ukraine provide an emergency braking mechanism for some products. It is automatically triggered if the volume of imports reaches the average annual imports recorded between July 1, 2021 and December 31, 2023.
In June it was used for the first time in connection with Ukrainian oats. On July 2, the European Union introduced protective duties on eggs and sugar from Ukraine due to excessive import volumes.
