The increase in prices throughout the month is mainly due to the increase in electricity tariffs in Ukraine.
Consumer market inflation accelerated to 2.2% in June compared to 0.6% in May. This was the largest monthly price increase in the past year, according to data from the State Statistics Service.
Since the beginning of the year, prices have increased by 4.3%. On an annual basis, inflation in June (compared to June last year) accelerated to 4.8% from 3.3% in May.
Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 0.5% in June. The price of eggs increased the most (by 15.5%).
Prices for processed grain products, sugar, sunflower oil, fish and fish products, bread, pasta, soft drinks, rice, oil, and vegetables increased by 3.2-0.4%.
At the same time, prices for oil, milk, meat and meat products, fermented milk products, and fruits decreased by 2.6-0.1%.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.1% in June, including for tobacco products – by 1.7%, alcoholic beverages – by 0.5%.
The increase in tariffs for water, electricity, gas and other types of fuel by 17.4% is mainly due to the increase in the price of electricity by 63.6%.
Transportation prices increased by 0.8%, mainly due to a 10% increase in the price of rail passenger transportation.
We remind you that by the end of 2023, inflation in Ukraine will reach 5.1%. This is the lowest level since 2020, when consumer price growth was 5%.
At the end of April, the National Bank improved the inflation forecast for 2024, but worsened it for the following year.
