Two Turkish companies – Baykar Makina and TUSAŞ – bought Ukrainian engines, noted Vasily Bodnar.
Ukrainian companies are engaged in the development of the new Turkish fifth-generation fighter KAAN. Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasily Bodnar spoke about this at a briefing on Ukrainian-Turkish relations: cooperation, assistance, current and future initiatives at the Ukraine Media Center.
“And also some Ukrainian businesses and developers are engaged in the development of its units. So far, we have not disclosed the details from a security point of view,” said the diplomat.
According to him, this is a promising cooperation and after entering the service in the Turkish Armed Forces, this fighter may be interested in the Ukrainian Air Force.
“Perhaps it will be the subject of cooperation to produce new drones on the territory of Ukraine, which we hope the new Baykar Makina plant will do,” said the diplomat.
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey noted that today two large Turkish companies: Baykar Makina, known in our country for the production of “bayractors”, and the state-owned company TUSAŞ (TAI), are buying Ukrainian jet and turbojet engines for use in unmanned vehicles.
“In addition, there is a separate project for the supply of helicopter engines. The main partners here are Ukrainian companies Motor Sich And Development of Ivchenkos,” Bodnar said.
Let’s recall that in August 2022 it became known that the construction of a Bayraktar drone production plant in Ukraine is in the preparatory stage. The plant project itself was developed and a plot of land was purchased.
