Novator-2 was produced in accordance with the needs of the NSU to have an armored vehicle in service for a combat group.
The Ukrainian Armored Vehicles company handed over the first batch of new Novator-2 armored vehicles to the National Guard of Ukraine. This was reported by Defense Express.
As the general director of the company, Vladislav Belbas, said, the vehicle was created taking into account all the wishes of the National Guard, and its tests before the start of mass production lasted almost a year.
According to him, Ukrainian Armored Vehicles became the first manufacturer to immediately supply armored vehicles with electronic warfare (EW) equipment.
In this regard, the Deputy Commander of the National Guard Alexander Belous said that the Novator-2 armored car was produced by order of the NSU in accordance with the needs of having an armored car in service for a combat group.
“Every National Guard combat brigade will receive such vehicles,” Belous assured.
The new 10-seater Novator-2 armored vehicle was first presented in September 2023 at the MSPO exhibition in Poland. The vehicle was created based on an initial version of the Novator, taking into account the requirements of today’s battlefield.
It was noted that the appearance of the 10-seat version was explained precisely by military necessity, although in fact the Novator-2 became no larger than the five-seat version. The length of the car increased by only 10 cm, and the main changes in the car came to the part that was the body of the pickup truck – it was covered with armor, 5-centimeter windows were installed, additional seats and a hatch in the rear – as an additional point for firing, and also for evacuation.
It was previously reported that the number of Ukrainian armored vehicles increased tenfold during two years of a full-scale war with the Russian Federation. The company has dozens of sites across the country.
Let’s recall that Ukrainian armored vehicles supplied the M113 armored personnel carrier to the Lyut assault brigade of the National Police.
