JSC Alpari Bank is the ninth bank to cease banking activities on its own initiative without abolishing its legal entity.
The National Bank revoked the banking license of JSC Alpari Bank and excluded information about JSC ALPARI BANK from the State Register of Banks. The corresponding decision was made on June 27. It was reported by the NBU press service.
It is noted that JSC Alpari Bank is the ninth bank to cease banking activities on its own initiative without abolishing its legal entity.
Earlier, as part of this procedure, the NBU revoked the banking licenses of PJSC VERNUM BANK, PJSC BM Bank, PJSC DiVi Bank, PJSC KB Financial Partner, PJSC Apex Bank, PJSC Industrial Finance Bank, PJSC Credit Optima Bank and PJSC Settlement Center.
The decision to terminate Alpari Bank’s banking activities was made on December 12, 2023.
As you know, Alpari is the smallest bank in Ukraine in 2021, it has only 1 branch. As of January 1, 2024, the volume of its net assets amounted to only UAH 193.4 million (0.007% of the assets of the banking system). The bank has 6,176 depositors holding UAH 679 million in its accounts. By the end of 2023, the bank received a loss of UAH 6 million.
The owner of 100% of the bank’s shares is Bakhtari Hedayatollah, a citizen of Ukraine living in the UAE.
We remind you that in 2021, Ukrposhta agreed to buy Alpari Bank for UAH 260 million, and later it even received permission to buy the bank.
However, Ukrposhta and the Ministry of Infrastructure did not eliminate all the shortcomings in the documents pointed out by the NBU, so the regulator did not approve this agreement and returned the package of documents for the purchase of Alpari back to Ukrposhta without doing of decisions on May 29, 2023.
It was also reported that Motor Bank will become the seventh bank of the state. Currently, the state owns PrivatBank, Sberbank, Ukreximbank, Ukrgasbank, Sense Bank and PIN Bank.
