In the first quarter of this year, the Ukrainian economy showed better results than in the last months of 2023.
Ukraine’s real gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 1.2% compared to the previous quarter. Such preliminary data was published by the State Statistics Service on Tuesday, June 25.
It is indicated that the economic growth in the first quarter takes into account the seasonal factor.
At the same time, compared to the first quarter of 2023, GDP grew by 6.5%.

In the first quarter of 2023, real GDP contracted 10.3% year-on-year. In the second quarter, GDP grew by 19.2%, in the third – by 9.6%, in the fourth – by 4.7%.
Let’s recall that in May, Ukraine’s GDP growth was 3.7% compared to May 2023. As a result, in the first five months of 2024, economic growth is estimated at 4.3%.
Previously, the National Bank worsened its forecast for GDP growth to 3% in 2024, but slightly improved expectations for the inflation rate.
