The company is negotiating land plots to accommodate five 330 kV substations and wind turbines.

Energy holder DTEK is in the process of obtaining all the necessary permits and documents for the construction of the Poltava Wind Power Plant (WPP) with a capacity of 650 MW. The company announced this on Friday, June 21.

It is indicated that wind energy has many strategic advantages – speed of construction, dispersion of turbines and the largest generation from early autumn to late spring. It can be the basis for restoring Ukraine’s energy potential in the coming years.

“Accordingly, we continue to comprehensively prepare for the implementation of the Poltava Wind Farm project with a capacity of 650 MW,” said Oleg Solovey, Deputy General Director of DTEK Renewables.

According to the press service, a second meteorological mast was recently installed in the territory of the Globin community to conduct a wind monitoring campaign.

“With the first one, they are the largest in Ukraine and have a height of 160 meters. The use of two meteorological masts is related to the need for the most accurate assessment of the main parameters – the directions of wind flow and wind strength, because. the wind farm is located in a very large area,” DTEK noted.

Ornithological research is also ongoing. The experts have already provided the company with an ornithological report for the period of six months of spring migration monitoring, confirming the correctness of the initial layout of the wind turbines and the absence of their influence on bird migration. Next, the ornithologists will conduct research on the fall migration of birds with a promising wind farm.

The company added that it has started communication with land users on the allocation of land plots for the subsequent placement of five 330 kV substations and wind turbines.

Let’s remember that at the height of the war, DTEK built the Tiligul wind power plant in the Nikolaev region with a capacity of 114 MW, 100 km from the combat zone. It is the first wind farm in the world built during the war.

And at the COP28 conference, DTEK and the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturer, the Danish company Vestas, signed a memorandum on the completion of the construction of the Tiligul wind farm. The total investment in the project will exceed 650 million euros, and the capacity of the station will be 500 MW. It will be the largest in Eastern Europe until the Poltava wind farm is built.

It was also reported that “green” energy helps prevent blackouts in the Odessa region.
